At Ageless MD, we utilize the newest fractional laser from Syneron and Candela called the CO2RE. This laser is a dual laser that can be adjusted to penetrate the skin at different levels. This amazing, advanced laser can treat wrinkles, pigmentation, scars, enlarged pores, discoloration, and rejuvenate skin on the shallow and deep level simultaneously. Its ability to do this has helped its popularity to jump in leaps.
How Does the Process Work? Fractional lasers target only a fraction of the skin at a time with its lasers, but the treatment itself is aggressive and aims to erase all imperfections. The laser punctures millions of microscopic holes in the skin. It vaporizes what it touches and creates columns in the skin. The “damage” caused by the laser forces the body to heal itself and new and healthy skin grows in its place. The problem skin is restored to a more healthier, smoother and youthful skin with a better texture. The intensity and depth of the laser depends on what is being treated. This innovative process is the secret to great skin!
How is the CO2RE Different from other Lasers? The CO2RE is different from other fractional resurfacing procedures like Fraxel, ActiveFX and ProFractional because it uses two different types of laser beams that penetrate at different levels and depths at the same time. It has up to 7 different settings to target a variety of skin problems. This laser offers less discomfort and significant results after only one session. Every one is unique to their own skin needs and all suffer from different skin issues. The greatest innovation about the CO2RE is that it has the ability to treat all varying issues depending on the patient by using the numerous pulse settings.
What happens during your Treatment? The doctor will discuss your needs, skin type and determine if this is the right treatment for you during your free consultation. The CO2RE laser has a treatment mode that can provide significant results no matter what your skin concern is without the high costs and endless downtime of invasive surgery. The doctor will apply a topical anaesthetic half an hour before your treatment to minimize any moderate discomfort you may feel. You will see improvements in your skin for up to 3 months after as new collagen forms. The doctor will advise you on the types of results to expect during your consultation depending on your desired outcomes.
You will feel a burning sensation immediately following the procedure which is similar to a sunburn. This will last up to a few hours. The skin may still feel like a sunburn and will experience some swelling until after day three. Then, the skin will naturally start to flake and peel off in the next 3-5 days following the procedure. This is all normal and indicates that the treatment is working to give you the skin you’ve always wanted. In the next 5-10 days, the mild redness may persist for 6-8 weeks, but the peeling should subside within these days.
