Filler Dissolving

There are instances where patients may not be happy with the look of their fillers or sometimes in rare occurrences, the filler may pose a serious health threat. Hyaluronidase is a filler dissolvent that can help to fix any of these issues. It is a group of enzymes that can help to degrade and break through hyaluronic acid, which is the main component of dermal fillers.

Hyaluronidase is effective in dissolving any filler in the Juvederm family of fillers including Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Belotero, and any other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. It is used when the filler has been overdone, in the occurrence of an infection, the filler is lumpy or has nodules that cannot be massaged away, a rare possible allergic reaction, or when the filler is accidentally injected into a blood vessel. When dermal filler is accidentally injected into a blood vessel, this can cause the skin to stop receiving oxygen and therefore “die” and turn black and cause a scar. This is why it is important that every clinic carries a filler dissolvent! Anyone evaluating a place to have their fillers injected should ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure the office carries hyaluronidase (or Trade name “Hylinex” or “Vitrase”) and if they do not then run for the hills.

At Ageless MD, you can come to us to correct your unsatisfying fillers, and rest assured that any problems can be easily corrected with an injection of hyaluronidase. Our phenomenal doctor can also dissolve Radiesse if injected within 3-4 weeks. Textbooks and most people will tell you that this calcium-based filler cannot be dissolved by hyaluronidase. However, our doctor has been able to dissolve it on multiple occasions. The dissolving agent will break up the methylcellulose that is the structural basis in the calcium base fillers. This is crucial for any instance in which the filler is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel. It can then be easily dissolved without causing any harm.
